Shillong, Nov 8: The DGP I Nongrang has ordered the CID to investigate into the alleged scam related to the construction of Shillong- Nongstoin-Rongjeng-Tura road with Rs 2366.77 crore.
An official source said the DGP ordered on October 23 that the Shillong Sadar P.S. Case No. 286 (09) 2024 U/S61(2)/316(5)/318(4)/332(2)(3)/340(2)/344 BNS is transferred to CID for further and effective investigation of the case.
The police investigating officer was directed to hand over all up-to-date case diaries and other relevant documents to the CID with proper challans.
The source added that since there are many technical issues related to the matter, there is a need to form a team of experts to investigate into the matter.
The state government had filed the case against the contractors of companies which executed the work and goverment officials of Public Works Department (PWD) for alleged misuse of funds.
The case was filed by the Chief Engineer (National Highway) PWD (Roads) on September 10 this year with sadar police station as directed by the state government.
