Shillong, Feb 14: The state government has denotified the entire women’s commission following complaints of violation of model code of conduct, especially by the Congress.
Though the Congress filed a complaint before the CEO on Tuesday against Chairperson of Women’s Commission Phidalia Toi for being with the NPP candidate from Jowai , the wife of Congress candidate Marbud Dkhar from Mawlai was also affected for accompanying him as she was the member of the commission.
Toi said as the NPP candidate from Jowai was the son of her cousin brother, she went to drop him during the filing of nominations.
“I did not take part in any rally neither campaigned for him”, Toi said.
Though Toi received the showcause notice, she is yet to reply.
“I just received the denotification order”, she said.
Felicita Majaw, the member of women’s commission and wife of Mawlai Congress candidate, said that she also received a denotification order related to the commission.
“I am only an honorary member and not availing government salary. I have not received any notice from any quarters to reply”, she said.
Majaw said she accompanied her husband during the filing of nominations.
” I am giving election speeches as I feel women are not getting the required attention as they should in any democratic process. More so, not strictly under the provisions of a public servant I am free to speak so”, Majaw said.
