Shillong, June 23: Tura BJP MDC Bernard Marak said the farmer’s card issued to the farmers is not PM KISAN card as per the reply to RTI query by him.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Marak said the confusion and the reason why many farmers did not get PM KISAN benefit has finally come to light through RTI. The PM KISAN card was not issued to the farmers but farmers’ card which was not PM KISAN card was issued to most farmers in the state. “These two cards are not the same. RTI revealed that the farmer’s identity card is required for registration under the PM KISAN which was made mandatory to avail the PM KISAN but farmers did receive PM KISAN card. RTI replied that it is government to citizen service. Farmer’s card is supposed to link through unique identifier farmers’ profile with all the agricultural schemes which have been availed by the farmers. But ever since the farmers registered for the farmer’s card, majority of the farmers did not get benefit as promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which is evident from the complaints received from the farmers. The farmers of the state face multiple challenges in their daily activities and they don’t get any relief through the farmer’s card issued to them. Many farmers failed to get the benefit of Rs 6,000 per year promised to them through PM KISAN in three equal instalments annually and the amount was not credited in the farmer’s accounts. Even KCC loan is a hurdle, the farmers complained, acording to Marak.
Central schemes reviewed
Marak met the villagers of Gambegre block to create awareness on Central schemes and also to review the implementation of the schemes in the villages. People had complained about incompletion of JJM project, and delay in payments in NREGA wages, PMAY, PM KISAN, PMGSY, PM VISWAKARMA, high electricity bills and others. The incompleted projects under JJM was one of the most discussed subject because some contractors erected the completion sign boards without water supply. “There was one family who came with a complaint of receiving electricity bill without electricity connection. Others complained of NREGA wages not being credited into their accounts even after showing paid online. Marak has taken an initiative to visit the blocks and every project taken up under the Central scheme to ensure that there is no compromise on the quality of work. The BJP leader also supervised the schools sanctioned for repair and new construction under Gambegre block so that education in the rural villages can get an uplift.
According to Marak, health centres and wellness centers, including NRHM will also be monitored for better service and upgradation of facilities for the poor. PMGSY is one of the major projects which has connected villages in the state but sub standard work is visible in some areas and maintenance of the roads has to be taken care of, Marak added.
