Shillong, Feb 19: A father and his three children died while the wife and two daughters were not affected in a fire incident in Mawlam under Pynursla in the wee hours on Sunday.
Police said according to the information received around 3.30 am from Sub Divisional Police Officer Pynursula, the headman of Mawlam village informed that around 1.30 am a fire incident occurred at the village in the house of Phanglang Khongkhnian (33), wife of Etan Tynsong.
Etan and his three children, 2 boys -10 and 6 years, and one girl (4 years) died in the incident.
Etan’s wife Phanglang along with her two girl children escaped as they slept in a separate room.
During the enquiry, it was learnt that the cause of fire may have spread from the fire left in the kitchen, police added.
