Shillong, May 19:A biker who fled from Sohra was arrested by the Police in Mawjrong
The bike was also seized.
According to a statement issued by the East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem, while the checking of vehicles was conducted by the police in Sohra, one biker, on seeing the police personnel, turned back and fled towards Shillong. The police personnel from the Sohra police station followed the bike. The rider was intercepted at Mawjrong with the help of residents there.
It was ascertained that the red colour Yamaha R15 bearing registration no. ML 05R 5346 was stolen on Tuesday (May 19) around 7 pm from Laban by Banpliebok Khongsder (26), a resident of Pomshutia, Pynursla, East Khasi Hills. He was en route to the Bangladesh border. A case is being registered, and the investigation is on to ascertain his involvement in other bike thefts from Shillong, Syiem added.
