Golden jubilee celebrations begin

CM misses event, isolates himself after his return from Delhi

Shillong,Jan 21: The golden jubilee  celebrations of Meghalaya began on Friday at Polo Grounds.

Though the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was the chief guest, he was not present as he isolated himself after his return from New Delhi on Thursday.

In his place, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong opened the celebrations.

He recalled the contribution of the statehood leaders and hoped that the state will make several strides in the years to come.

Documentary on statehood, docu-drama, release of state emblem and comemmortative stamp and unveiling of plan of administrative building at New Shillong Township marked the occasion.

Meghalaya Day awards and Meghalaya Day excellence awards were also distributed.
