Shillong, Nov 24: The state government wanted both the KHADC and the JHADC  to complete the delimitation process at the earliest.

The tenure of both the KHADC and the JHADC will expire early part of next year.

Tynsong told reporters on Friday that recently the governor constituted the delimitation committees of the two ADCs.

“Now, they are on the job to organise the constituencies. The state government has also directed them to speed it up so that next election meaning not the old constituencies but the new constituencies will be in place,” he said.

According to the deputy chief minister, delimitation does not mean that the seats of the two ADCs will be increased because this is a constitutional obligation.

“As of now, the two ADCs want to carry out delimitation as there are constituencies which are bigger than Assembly constituencies. Therefore, we also insist that they complete the process at the earliest possible,” he said.

Illegal check gates

When asked about illegal check gates, Tynsong said the government has stopped all such gates across the state.

“We have instructed ADCs and DCs that any illegal check gate please close it so they have done it,” he said.
