Govt orders probe into Meghalaya Games shortcomings
Shillong, May 5: The government has ordered an inquiry into the shabby arrangements for the athletes participating in the 4th Meghalaya Games being held in parts of the city
“We have ordered an inquiry into this,” Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said while speaking to reporters on Thursday.
The chief minister had personally checked on the arrangements at JN Sports Complex on Monday after images of poor condition of players went viral.
The chief minister admitted that there were shortcomings while organising the Meghalaya Games.
“But I think it is more important to learn from the mistakes that were made and also to ensure necessary action against people who were responsible for it.
He also wanted people to focus on positive stories and assured: “Yes we learn from negative things, we need to improve things and ensure such incidents do not happen in the future.”
