Shillong, Feb 21: The government will take six months to decide whether Mawmluh Cherra Cement Limited ( MCCL) to be closed or not .
VPP MLA Ardent Basaiawmoit MCCL raised the issue in the Assembly during the question hour.

Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Industries Sniawbhalang Dhar said the government will take a right decision at an appropriate time.
In 2020 during Covid, the MCCL was closed affecting 278 employees.
To a supplementary question by Charles Pyngrope (TMC), he said employees will not be affected when a decision to close down the plant is taken.
The deputy chief minister said part-time payment is made to the employees.
Gavin Mylliem (NPP) from Sohra wanted the government to take a decision at the earliest.
