Shillong, Sept 2: High Court of Meghalaya has expressed unhappiness over slow progress of inquiry into violence during the KSU-sponsored rally on August 19.
The court pointed out that the police should have prevented the rally as it violated the agreement.

A fresh status report with respect to the investigation carried out should be submitted on the next date.

Later, the Khasi Students’ Union president Raymond Kharjana has said multiple cases against its leaders will not discourage the union as it demanded that issues raised by its central executive committee be fulfilled by the government without further delay.
Kharjana was produced before the court on Wednesday (Sept 2) along with three other leaders – vice president Pynkmenlang Sanmiet, general secretary Reuben Najiar and assistant organizing secretary Jeremaiah Pohthmi – in connection with the August 19 violence during the KSU black flag bike rally.
Speaking to reporters, Kharjana said the government is trying to target the leaders.
“We have said from the beginning that they are trying to target the leaders, but what I want to clarify is that even if they slap 20 cases on us, we no longer care, But what is important is that the issues that we from the CEC have already discussed and highlighted to the government must be fulfilled, it should not be delayed anymore,” he said.
