Hek downplays demand for change of party president

Shillong, Aug 19: The BJP MLA AL Hek has downplayed any demand for change in state  leadership of the party.

“We don’t know about any move to change the party leadership. In fact, we are working as one and as united strong party workers,” Hek told reporters on Friday.

He claimed that everything is well within the BJP and added that there is no problem in the party.

To a question whether he is being offered to take the president’s post, Hek  said, “We are all karyakartas, we are working for the party and will continue to work for the party that’s all.”

According to Hek, everyone is working to ensure that a BJP-led government is installed in Meghalaya after the 2023 elections.

Mini stadium instead of Casino

On the move of the government to set up a casino in Ri Bhoi district, Hek asked the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government to sanction a big stadium for the district.

“Since we are celebrating the 50th year of statehood, instead of a casino, they should give a big stadium for the Ri Bhoi district since it is an aspirational district,” Hek said.
