Himanta to meet Conrad in city for border talks

Shillong, July 19: One day ahead of the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will meet Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in Shillong on July 23 to discuss the border dispute.

This will be the first official level border meeting after Conrad assumed office of the chief minister in 2018.

Sangma told reporters on Monday that the decision was made to have an official level meeting in Shillong after he met Himanta in Guwahati on Saturday for 45 minutes.

He said during the meeting, both the chief ministers had gone through the 12 areas of differences and discussed many points.

He said the states are looking at an amicable solution.

The meeting will also be attended by Chief Secretaries and additional chief secretaries of both the states.

Later, an official meeting will be held in Guwahati to follow up the matter.
