
Shillong, March 13: The Assembly on Thursday adopted an amendment for removal of section on creation of land banks from the Meghalaya State Investment Promotion and Facilitation (Amendment) Bill 2025.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma moved the amendment to remove the portion mentioning ‘creation of land-banks through direct purchase of land or other means”.
Later, the members of the ruling appreciated the stand of the government.
Ardent Basaiawmoit (VPP) brought an amendment to the Investment Bill and stressed the need of protecting the interest of the people of the state.
According to Ardent, further purchase of land should be withheld.
Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma and other MLAs took part in the discussion..
As the state government agreed to delete the section on creation of land banks, Ardent agreed to withdraw the amendment following which the House passed the Bil.
