HSPDP MLAs need action plan from alternative alliance

Shillong, March 4: Hills State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) president KP Pangniang said the two MLAs of the party wanted an action plan from United Democratic Party (UDP) for forming a government minus the NPP and the BJP.

Addressing a press conference, Pangniang said he was able to talk to the two MLAs of the party and they have asked the UDP and other five political parties to chalk out a plan on how to form a new government.

Pangniang said they have asked the UDP to prepare a list of who will lead the state government which includes who will be the chief minister, deputy chief minister and who will be in the cabinet.

“Since the people want a Khasi chief minister, the two MLAs of the HSPDP have asked the UDP and other parties to chalk out the plans on how to move ahead in forming a government without NPP and BJP,” he said.

Pangniang said the two MLAs of the party will not disobey the party and hence they have asked all other parties to come out with plans to form government and if everything is settling, they will come back and sign the papers to support a government without NPP and BJP.

According to Pangniang, the MLAs will support any government that will be led by a regional party but one of them must be inducted in the cabinet.

“Everyone is eager to see a Khasi chief minister and a state government led by a regional party and if national parties like Congress and TMC can lend support to such a government, why can’t we, from the HSPDP” said Pangniang.

He added that as of today, both MLAs of the HSPDP are waiting for the UDP and other parties to prepare the list and once everything is settled, they will come out and lend their support to a new non-NPP and BJP government.
