HSPDP to pursue review of reservation and UCC

Shillong, July  21: The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) has decided to submit its suggestions to review the state reservation policy.

“We have discussed the issue at length and we have decided to submit our suggestions to the government on the state reservation policy with immediate effect,” HSPDP president KP Pangniang said.

He chaired  the CEC meeting of the party here on Friday.

Pangniang told reporters that the party also expressed its gratitude and appreciation to the government of the day for implementing the roster system prospectively as per suggestion of the party during the all party meeting held on May 29 this year.

The party also opposed the attempt by the Centre to implement the uniform civil code (UCC) in Meghalaya.

“We have discussed at length the purpose and the intention of the government of India to implement the UCC in the country. As a party, we have decided to oppose the implementation of the UCC in Meghalaya,” Pangniang said.
