IGU junior boys golf tourney in city from Nov 15-19
Shillong, Nov 15: The Indian Golf Union (IGU), along with the Meghalaya Golf Promoters Society (MGPS) and Shillong Club, will organise the IGU Shillong Junior Boys Golf Championship from November 15-19 at Shillong Golf Course.
The national event, which will be organised in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, will see two top junior players, Shat Mishra and Sagar Uppal, who will face stiff challenges from local favourites Siddhant Singhania and Shaurya Goenka. The duo from the state have the advantage of playing in their home course.
Besides, Assam’s Ambarish Bora will be the third junior representing the North East in this event.
Minister James K Sangma will be the patron for the event. BJP legislator AL Hek, an avid golfer and advisor to the Meghalaya Golf Promoters Society, has agreed to be the chairman for the event.
Michael Hek, secretary, MGPS, said, “Hosting of such events keeps the golf course in good shape and also contributes to the economy of the State.”
