Impulse NGO interns assaulted in Jaiaw

Shillong,June 24: Two interns of Impulse NGO Network were assaulted near Roberts Hospital, Jaiaw, on Friday evening.

Bariphylla Lyttan, the case manager of Impulse NGO network, said the MSW students from Kerala identified as Rejaz M Sydeek and Sarath S Thambi were attacked by some bikers, who might have come from a rally.


“I got a call from them after 5 pm and according to them, they noticed bikers numbering around 15, who assaulted one of them who was standing outside a restaurant and another at the counter”, Lyttan said.

While one sustained injuries on his face, another student’s hand was hit with a helmet.

An FIR was lodged by them at Lumdiengjri police station.

Friday was the last day of one-month internship and the students were coming for lunch at Jaiaw from the head office of Impulse NGO at Riatsamthiah.

When contacted, the police at the Lumdiengjri police station said the officer in-charge is busy.
