India Post, North East Circle organises events to improve efficiency
Shillong, Oct 9: The India Post, North East Circle has scheduled a slew of initiatives in the city from October 9 to 13 as part of National Postal Week, World Post Day, Vittiya Sashaktikaran Diwas, Philately Day, Mails and Parcels Day and Antyodya Diwas to focus on various services.
October 9 was celebrated as World Post Day.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Subrat Das, Chief Post Master General, NE Circle said that various activities are planned in the city for the occasion to benefit the people.
He said Dak Community Development Programmes (DCDP) are being organised at all Postal Divisions under North East Postal Circle on 10 October with active participation of all stakeholders . This will bring awareness on financial Inclusion and also augment the opening of Post Office Savings Bank/India Post Payment Bank Accounts and Postal Life Insurance /Rural Postal Life Insurance policies.
On October 11, there will be interactive session at schools for DHAI AKHAR- “Digital India For New India”. Quizzes and seminars on philately will be held at various places.
On October 12, customer meet will be held at all divisions. There will be awareness sessions and workshops with postmasters and delivery staff posted in the field units and nodal delivery centres to improve delivery efficiency. On October 13, seminars will be organised by each circle where the officers of various departments of respective state governments dealing with the matters/schemes related to the uplift of poor, marginalised and backward sections of the society will be invited for a panel discussion. Awareness on Aaadhar enrolment and updation camps will be organised in rural/remote areas and urban slums. People will be made aware about availability of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Social Security Pensions, Jan Suraksha Scheme (PMJJY, PMSBY, APY), Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts, AePS and other products and services of the Department of Posts. Financial literacy campaign will be carried out to adopt safety measures while doing digital payments and to avoid online frauds. These camps will be organised in rural areas, remote areas, uban slums, underdeveloped areas and undeveloped areas.
