Inquiry into illegal appointment of teacher in Rajabala
Shillong, June 7: The education officials have assured that action will be taken against an illegal appointment in a school in West Garo Hills.
The matter has been pending as affected parties had moved the authorities for action.
Nazmul Hashan, the president of Garo Hills Youth Organisation (GHYO) said in a statement on Wednesday that Karimul Islam, an inhabitant of Varal Gaon, Rajabala, West Garo Hills, was appointed as an assistant teacher at Gasbari Non-Govt L.P. School recently without any RTE/NCTE norms/guidelines/notification being followed. Moreover, he is not even an MTET (Meghalaya Teachers Eligibility Test) qualified candidate to be eligible to apply in any elementary school. Therefore, he is not a qualified candidate to even apply in any elementary school for the post of teacher.
Hashan said that an inquiry was conducted by the DSEO, Tura, and other officials and statements in this regard were taken from all the complainants and parties and the inquiry officer assured that Karimul would be removed if he is appointed illegally without following the prescribed norms, guidelines and notifications of the relevant Acts and if he is appointed by any illegal School Managing Committee, his appointment would be cancelled.
Earlier, complaints were lodged to the Sub-Divisional School Education Officer (SDSEO), Dadenggre, Rajen Hajong and the copies for the same were forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, and others for information. The complaint was signed by Gaonbura, VEC Secretary, VDP Secretary, AMMSU (All Meghalaya Minority Student Union) members of Gasbari unit including the concerned public of Gasbari Village and another complaint was filed by GHYO (Garo Hills Youth Organisation) to remove the unqualified candidate who has been appointed illegally and unlawfully by Shohidur Rahman (Head Master of Gasbari Non-Govt L.P. School) and the School Managing Committee (SMC) members of the school along with the authorities concerned.
Later, the SDSEO Rajen K. Hajong failed to conduct a free and fair inquiry into the matter after being duly directed by the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL). Thereafter the Gaonbura, VEC Secretary, VDP Secretary, AMMSU local unit of Gasbari, filed another complaint to remove the inquiry officer Rajen.
In response to the complaint, the Director DSEL, Shillong has directed the District School Education Officer (DSEO), Tura, to conduct the inquiry at Gasbari Non-Govt. L.P. School and thereafter the DSEO, Tura issued an order to all the parties/ complainants to be present for the inquiry on June 7.
