Jaintia body against C&RD Lumshnong office closure
Shillong, Jan 25: The Jaiñtia National Council (JNC) members on Thursday met the deputy commissioner of East Jaintia Hills to enquire about the closure of the C&RD Lumshnong office.
The office was shut down owing to non-payment of salaries to the employees, the DC informed. The office had an engineer, a lower division assistant and a chowkidar. They stopped working after their salaries were delayed, the DC informed.
The C&RD was inaugurated on December 5, 2022, before the Assembly elections in February 2023.
“Was setting up of the C&RD block just for election, ” JNC said in a statement on Thursday.
While JNC praised Santa Mary Shylla for her dedication towards bringing that block when at that time she was just a candidate, it hoped “that she will do the same thing for strengthening and developing the C&RD block”.
“We urge her too for more recruitment in that block to boost the youths who seek job,” said Mebanteilang Sukhlaiñ, information Secretary JNC-CEC.
Meanwhile, the DC assured that he would take up the matter with the department concerned.
The council also stated that the government should develop the block and not play politics over it.
