Juvenile detained in blast case, HNLC claims responsibility

Shillong, Jan 31: A juvenile from a city locality was detained in connection with the bomb blast in Police Bazar on Sunday evening

Following this, one more live IED and some explosive materials were recovered from his house and they were defused.

Commercial gelatin sticks and nails were used to make the crude IED and the quantity was 1.5 to 2 kg. It was initiated by igniter safety fuze and placed it in a soft blue colour bag.

The banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) on Monday claimed responsibility for carrying out the blast.

“We take full responsibility of the bomb blast yesterday in Shillong,” said the outfit’s general secretary cum publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw on his social media post.
