Shillong, Aug 16: The juvenile apprehended by the police turned out to be the chairman of the new militant group, National Liberation Council of Nongkyndong (NLCN).
A woman who was also arrested by the police is the recruiter and record keeper of the group.
A senior police official said on Wednesday that out of the eight arrested, the juvenile and the woman have key roles in the organisation.
According to the official, though the juvenile is the chairman, the outfit had a plan to send the members for armed training.
Police received inputs that NLCN had tied up with other militant outfits of Nagaland and it was supposed to send the first batch for armed training in Nagaland on August 17.
The operation to bust the group was launched on Wednesday morning leading to the arrest of seven members.
Police are yet to fully examine the accused as they will be forwarded to the court only on Thursday to determine the number of days in police custody.
The police will also examine the linkage of the group with others.
