Katakey needs answers for missing 18 lakh metric tonnes of coal

A meeting was held on Thursday in the city to discuss the issues related to coal mining in the state.

According to Katakey, tte state government had informed the supreme court and the NGT that the extracted coal before the ban on coal mining was 32 lakh metric tonnes of coal.

The government is only talking about 14 lakh metric tonnes of coal and not 32 and hence there is a need to find out about the remaining 18 lakh metric tonnes of coal, Katakey said.

He said a committee of deputy commissioners found that it was only 19 lakh metric tonnes of coal while the drone survey revealed that it was only 14 lakh.
