Local conservationist wins awards in Delhi
Shillong, Aug 31: Green activist from Meghalaya Tambor Lyngdoh received two awards in New Delhi on Wednesday for his works conserving the ecology.
Lyngdoh received Bharat Ratna Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Excellence Award, which is given to those who have specialised in fields like science and technology, education, industry, engineering, fine arts, politics and social work, in lieu of the yeoman services rendered with excellence in their respective fields.

The conservationist also received Rashtriya Gaurav Award.
Lyngdoh has been working for over a decade to preserve the forests, including the Sacred Grove, and rejuvenate water bodies in Mawphlang in East Khasi Hills.
