
Shillong, June 16: Police have taken the murder accused Sonam Raghuvanshi to the Meghalaya Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences (MIMHANS) for her mental health evaluation.
According to East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem, Sonam was taken to MIMHANS for psychiatric evaluation to know the mental health condition and it was done as per the recommendation of the doctor, who examined her.
However, she was not showing any signs of mental instability, Syiem said.
“The health evaluation is just to see whether they are showing symptoms of depressions while on police custody. It is a routine checkup”, he added.
Sonam, her alleged lover Raj Singh Kushwaha and his three friends – Akash Rajput, VIshal Singh Chauhan and Anand Kurmi were sent to 8 days of police custody after they were arrested from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh for their involvement in the murder of Indore businessman Raja in Sohra.
Monday is the sixth day of interrogating the five accused persons.
Police will take a call as to when the accused persons will be taken to Sohra for reconstruction of the crime scene
“We will take a call later as to when we are we taking the accused persons for reconstruction of the crime scene”, he said.
When asked about DGP’s statement that reconstruction of the crime scene would likely be held on Tuesday, the SP it is yet to be confirmed.
“Interrogation, evidence gathering is still going on as we speak,” he said.
