Shillong, Nov 23: BJP candidate for Gambegre seat Bernard Marak said money power played a crucial role in NPP winning the seat.
Bernard, who got 710 voters, was placed in 4th position.
When contacted, Bernard said besides money power, negative campaign against the BJP has affected the poll outcome.
The BJP chief spokesperson, M Kharkrang said serious introspection is necessary to strengthen the party.
However, the BJP leader said the party is ready to face future polls.
‘Endorsement of MDA’
UDP leader and cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh said the victory in Gambegre is the endorsement of MDA’ government’s performance.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Paul said politics is dynamic as in the recent Lok Sabha polls, the Congress had performed well whereas the Gambegre result is different.
He added that Gambegre chose somebody who is highly qualified.
