Shillong, Oct 20: The MPCC president, Vincent Pala said after RG Lyngdoh and PN Syiem, more people will join the party after the bypolls.
“Immediately after the byelection, quite a few more people will again be joining us, not only leaders but also grassroot people,” Pala told reporters on Wednesday after launching the membership drive of the youth Congress.
According to Pala, many people from Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi also want to join the Congress.
Stating that it is his priority to bring back former leaders to the Congress, Pala said he was supposed to induct quite a few more members but the system in Congress is that approval of the high command is necessary.
“Whenever we induct new people or any ex-CM, ex-minister and ex-MLA, we have to get approval from the high command,” he said, adding that due to bypolls, he has not been able to discuss the matter with Delhi leaders.
“We hope by the end of January or February, we will have series of joining and launching programmes,” he said.
