Nagaland group asks PM to tell the truth on political issue
Kohima, Feb 24 (UNI): The Nagaland Public Action Committee (NPAC) has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to tell the Naga people the “truth” about the status of the Naga political issue just before his visit, who is expected to address an election rally in Dimapur on Friday.
In a statement issued by convener Theje Therieh, co-convener Shikuto Zalipu and secretary Khondao Ngullie of the NPAC pointed out that when the Framework Agreement was signed between the Government of India and NSCN (I-M) on August 3, 2015, the Government “in haste” proclaimed it internationally. However, it again signed the Agreed Position (AP) with the Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups on November 17, 2017.
It said despite the conclusion of talks after 26 years of negotiations, the Government of India instead left the Naga political solution at the midpoint.
The NPAC appreciated that after having soft-pedalled negotiations and keeping it alive, the Government of India is again using the Naga solution as a political plank to be fished out every five years.
The NPAC said that the ‘ground was ripe and ready for reception of the political solution’ at the end of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly has alleged that the Government of India is once again trying to brainwash the voters with the promise that the issue would be resolved soon post elections.
