Shillong, Aug 20: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has recommended CBI probe into the alleged suicide case of a student from Ri Bhoi, in Rajasthan.

NCW member Delina Khongdup said after a probe by the commission, it was found that evidence was erased, hence a recommendation was made to the Centre to initiate CBI probe into the matter.

The police could not unlock the iPhone used by the girl which otherwise would have revealed the nature of the incident.

Though the institute authorities had told the father that his daughter committed suicide in her room at the college hostel on April 27 , the father was initially informed that his daughter’s health condition deteriorated and she was admitted at the Laxmangarh community health centre there.

Later, the father was told that the girl has already expired .

The NCW had instituted an inquiry committee led by member Delina to probe into the matter.

Following the spot visit and investigation by the team, the recommendation for the CBI inquiry was made.
