Search ops at Krem Ule suspended
Shillong, July 7: The search and rescue operations at Krem Ule in East Jaintia Hills have been suspended owing to the onset of monsoon.
The level of water has risen due to incessant rain and this is hampering the diving operations in the mine shaft for retrieval of the bodies. The Indian Navy team left the district for Guwahati on Wednesday.
Also, the services of the NDRF and SDRF have been stopped from Wednesday evening.
After the arrival of the Navy team, out of five trapped miners during the accident on May 30, the bodies of three miners were recovered and handed over to their relatives.
An official source said on Wednesday that the Navy team will be withdrawn from Thursday and added that a decision will be taken whether to continue with the operations.
The incessant rain has hampered the operations though the teams of NDRF and SDRF are camping at the site.
