Shillong, Sep 19: The Department of Political Science at NEHU, Shillong, organised a symposium on September 17 as part of its golden jubilee celebrations to honour Prof. Barrister Pakem.
The event served as a touching tribute to NEHU’s longest-serving vice chancellor, featuring heartfelt recollections from speakers such as David R. Syiemlieh and other faculty members who had the privilege of working with Pakem.
The speakers remembered Pakem’s impact as a teacher, his status as a scholar, his tenure as the president of NEHUTA, and his pivotal influence as a statesman in Meghalaya. They also fondly remembered his genuine simplicity, unwavering honesty, and approachable nature in interactions with students, scholars, colleagues, and the community.
Prof. TT. Haokip, the Head of the Department of Political Science, felicitated Dr D. Khonglah, the daughter of Pakem.
