NGO says BJP violated protocol, seeks response from DC
Shillong, Aug 3: The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) has pointed out alleged violation of Covid protocol by the BJP in organising a public meeting on July 31.
In a letter to East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday, the HITO chief, Donbok Dkhar sought a response from her as to whether permission was granted for the booth-level meeting of the South Shillong constituency at Assam Club in Laban.
The meeting was attended by none other than the BJP national general secretary, Arun Singh among other senior party functionaries, HITO said.
“If permission was granted, then HITO would like to know the reason specifically and if not then whether this clear violation of extremely stringent rules of a regimented administration has been taken note of and what legal action has been taken or initiated in this regard”, it said.
According to HITO, if this blatant disregard of the law of the land by the lawmakers goes unpunished, other stakeholders of society, including pressure groups will not hesitate to follow suit.
