NPP door open for political leaders: Tynsong
Prestone not aware of Shullai, Grace joining party
Shillong, Nov 22: NPP leader Prestone Tynsong has said the door is open to any political leader who wants to join the ruling party.
“Any leaders who want to join the party, the door is always open,” Tynsong told reporters on Monday.
The deputy chief minister, however, said he is not aware whether the BJP legislator Sanbor Shullai will join the party.
He is also not aware if the sitting KHADC member from Pynursla Grace Mary Kharpuri is joining the NPP.
“I don’t know whether she really intends to join or not, that I can’t say right now because officially or unofficially we are yet to discuss it,” Tynsong, who is also a legislator from Pynursla, said.
He said there is still a lot of time ahead of the 2023 Assembly polls.
“Let’s see who is coming into the party. We welcome anybody who wants to join the NPP, that is our principle,” he said.
On the criteria of joining the party ahead of the polls, Tynsong said, “Who has a winning edge? I think that is one of the criteria for joining the party and for welcoming into the party. This is not only the NPP but all political parties are like that only.”
Lapang to stick with NPP
The deputy chief minister said chief advisor to the MDA government DD Lapang will remain with the NPP though the Congress is persuading him to come back.
“Lapang will stay with us. He is very much within the party. See attempt or no attempt that is secondary but let me just tell you, let me clarify that Dr DD Lapang is very much with the NPP party,” he added.
