According to Shira, the AITC will not make much impact.

However, the UDP leader and cabinet minister Kyrmen Shylla also said the UDP will get all the seven seats from Jaintia Hills.

Many MLAs are expected to join the UDP prior to the polls.

Shira said,  “In Khasi-Jaintia Hills, we are expecting that we will cross 14 and in Garo Hills 16. So altogether we may become a single largest party and we may get a majority also’,’ Shira said.

“But if the number comes to only 30 or 31, our government may not be so stable so we need to make a coalition again”, Shira said
