Shillong, April 19: Congress candidate for Shillong seat Vincent Pala came early with his mother to cast his vote at a polling booth in Sutnga.

Tura candidate Agatha Sangma and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma also hoped to cast their votes early but was surprised to see long queue of voters.

Agatha told reporters she is happy with the large presence of voters and banked on ‘this government which fulfilled the promises made”. She mentioned about development, employment, creation of jobs and infrastructure.
Conrad reached the Walbakgre polling station in Tura to cast his vote at 630 am and stood in queue.
The voting began at 7 am and will conclude at 4 pm
Speaking to media persons, Conrad said that he reached the polling station with a hope to cast his vote early but he was surprised that people had lined up early to vote.
He appealed to people to come out and exercise their democratic rights as he expressed his optimism on the turnout.
He drove his vehicle from home to reach the polling station but had to wait for over 2.5 hours to cast his vote.
Agatha voted after waiting in queue for three hours from 7:30 am to 10:30 am.

The chief minister said he drove his car as he wanted his security, driver and the team to cast their votes conveniently.
“Everyone from the team has been sent to cast their votes. A few security personnel from the district, who have already cast their votes are with me,” he added.
