Ampareen says no decision taken during all-party meeting

Shillong, May 31: A resolution was passed by the committee headed by Ampareen Lyngdoh to recommend for an expert committee to the government to review the job reservation policy of the state.

VPP leader Ricky A J Syngkon, who attended the meeting of all the political parties on Wednesday, told reporters that this was decided in the meeting chaired by Ampareen, who is the chairperson of the commitee.

However, Syngkon said the VPP president Ardent Basaiawmoit will continue his fasting till the party gets an official notification regarding the expert committee to review the reservation policy.

However,  earlier while breifing reporters, Ampareen said that the formation of the expert committee was only one of the suggestions of the members who attended the meeting.

“There were suggestions from some members for status-quo on reservation policy, while others were for forming a committee but we asked the members to substantiate their demand with legal backing”, Ampareen said.
