Shillong, Dec 17 : The state government has appointed Phidalia Toi as the chairperson of Meghalaya State Women’s Commission.
Social activist and author from Jowai , Toi had unsuccessfuly contested on NCP ticket from Jowai in 2003. She was associated with former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma ,who was also with the NCP.

Acvording to the notification, the new members of the commission are retired director, soil and water conservation, Semalotha Ch Sangma, Candida Kharsyntiew, former lecturer Nongstoin College, Felicita L Majaw, former JHADC MDC from Khliehriat Violet Lyngdoh, retired head of department, Garo, Don Bosco College, Tura ,Susan M Sangma and Linda J Sangma
