Shillong, Sept 29: Jefferson Kynjing, a city-based green activist and founder of the Project Clean Surrounding campaign, received the Indian Responsible Tourism State Awards 2025 on Monday.
Project Clean Surrounding was the Gold Winner in the Sustainability Champions: Grassroots Heroes category.

Kynjing made the initiative official a year before the pandemic. It became a source of sustenance for many from the economically backward families. Project Green Surrounding propagated a clean and green lifestyle through its numerous drives.
It was a difficult journey for him and his team, but they did not give up and went to villages and on the outskirts of Shillong to collect waste plastic.
