Sangma unhappy with 'photo ops'

Shillong, Oct 3: AICC leader Rahul Gandhi has asked both the MPCC president Vincent Pala and the CLP leader Mukul Sangma to work together ahead of Assembly bypolls.

Pala said on phone after the meeting that Rahul wanted them to work together as they prepare for the bypolls in three Assembly constituencies.

Pala said this was a follow-up to the meeting between him and Mukul held in Shillong on Saturday to finalise the candidates.

Mukul, however, said two rounds of meetings-one with the AICC secretaries and another one-on-one with Rahul Gandhi -were held on Sunday.

Mukul first met AICC secretary in-charge Meghalaya Manish Chatrath and AICC general secretary KC Venugopal.

The CLP leader will meet the AICC interim president Sonia Gandhi on Monday to discuss further the state political situation.

“Our engagement will continue and we are committed to shoulder the responsibility entrusted to us”, he said.

Mukul expressed his displeasure over the group photo with the AICC leaders beingĀ  circulated in the media.

” We are not here for photo ops but for serious business”, Mukul asserted.
