Shillong, May 9: Ri Bhoi SP Vivekanand Singh Rathore has denied assault of two HNLC cadres by the police.
When contacted, the SP said, “Allegations made by the HNLC are false and baseless, they were taken for medical examination immediately after arrest”.

The arrested persons were produced before the magistrate and remanded to custody. No allegation was made against the police by the arrested persons in court, he said.
Rathore reiterated that no one was assaulted by the police.
“In fact, one of our officers was injured in the scuffle as one of the arrested tried to escape”, he added.
When pointed out about the bandage on the forehead of the accused, the SP said, “It was an old boil”.
