To,

The Director General, National Testing Agency, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, New Delhi-110020.

Subject: Complaint about allocation of CUET (UG) 2025 Centers outside to Meghalaya Students and request to allot Centers in Meghalaya only for applicants from Meghalaya.

Sir.

With reference to the subject cited above, I am to inform you that the several complaints have been received from the students CUET (UG) candidates that they have been allotted centers in Assam, Tripura etc despite their center option at Shillong Meghalaya. Details of few such candidates is mentioned at Annexure 1. However, there are many more.

At several previous occasions as well such issues came up and last minute centers were allotted in Meghalaya itself. The State Government and concerned district administrations had extended all possible support in identification of possible centers in the state. However, the last minute change also pose administrative challenges and hence the matter should be immediately taken up and all such candidates should be allotted centers in Meghalaya itself.

A direction has already been issued to all educational institutions to extend full support and cooperation for the conduct of all NTA exams in the state of Meghalaya.

A State Level Committee has also been formed vide Notification No.EDN.69/2023/254 Dated Shillong the 11th March, 2025 to oversee the smooth conduct of all NTA exams. Moreover, instructions were issued to all concerned districts to form the District Level Committees for the smooth conduct of NTA exams vide Letter No.EDN.69/2022/91 Dated Shillong the 20th March, 2025. Subsequently all districts have already constituted the same and they are monitoring all the NTA exams at their level. Recently the NEET (UG) exam was successfully conducted at various centers within the state.

The state has a hilly terrain and mostly it is very difficult and costly for students to travel large distances. That is why centers outside the state will not be feasible for most of the students.

In this regard, you are hereby requested to change their centers as per their choice given within the state of Meghalaya. I kindly request your attention to this matter.

Annexure I – List of applicants with grievances

Yours faithfully,

(Swapnil Tembe, IAS)

Secretary Education Department & State Nodal Officer for NTA Exams, Meghalaya.
