SC asks state boards to declare Class XII exam results by July 31

New Delhi, June 24 (UNI): The Supreme Court on Thursday directed state boards to declare the results of Class XII board exams by July 31.

The court also asked the state boards to formulate internal assessment scheme within 10 days. A vacation bench, comprising justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari, said, “We’re passing general order for all boards. We direct the boards that schemes be formulated and notified in 10 days from today and also declare the internal assessment results by July 31, like timeline specified for CBSE and ICSE.”

Twenty-one states have already scrapped the exams this year while few are planning to organise them as the Covid-19 situation eases.

The top court expressed displeasure over Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to hold Class XII exams and said states will be held responsible if there is even one fatality.
