Shillong, Oct 28: Shillong MP Vincent Pala said he is not against jhum cultivation and added that the concern is environment protection.
Earlier, Pala had said he would raise issues related to jhum cultivation in the UN climate change conference.

Following this, NESFAS had opposed the move and stressed the need to carry on with jhum cultivation.
Clarifying his stand, the Shillong MP told reporters that he was not against shifting cultivation but only wanted to improve it without harming the environment.
