Singer KK dies at 53 after performance in Kolkata
Shillong, May 31: Singer KK, alias Krishnakumar Kannath, died in Kolkata on Tuesday. He was 53.
The singer was performing at Nazrul Manch in south Kolkata for a college fest when he was taken ill. He returned to his hotel but his condition deteriorated. The singer was then rushed to CMRI Hospital where he breathed his last.
Composer Harris Jayaraj tweeted, “My “Uyirin Uyire” passed away. RIP Singer KK. What a shocking news to hear when the whole world is praising his last song “Konji Konji”. I am completely shattered and my condolences to his family and friends.”
Condolences poured in for the singer’s family on social media. Cricketer Virender Sehwag tweeted, “Tragic to hear about the passing away of KK after falling ill while performing in Kolkata. Another reminder of how fragile life is. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti.”
