Shillong, Oct 17: The Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) has launched an exclusive programme for engineering and management students to equip them with digital skills in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) using the SAP platform. TimesPro, a leading Higher EdTech platform, will facilitate the training of the first batch of learners in Shillong and to be replicated across different regions of the state.
Vijay Kumar, CEO, Meghalaya State Skill Development Society, Ram Kumar, Executive Director, MSSDS, and Parikshit Markanday, Senior Vice President and Chief Partnership & Growth Officer, TimesPro announced the first-of-its-kind training of 300 college students for Meghalaya, in Shillong.
Meghalaya is also the first state in the Northeast to roll out this programme.
This initiative will improve the employability index of students and address the rapidly growing industrial demands across the globe. It will benefit the students to bridge the skill-employability divide and gain immensely with new-age skills to enhance their career prospects. They will be capable of programming and designing front-end and back-end tools to run a business and help solve the scarcity of technical professionals in the ERP sector of India.The MSSDS has been at the helm of promoting several delivery mechanisms to enhance employability by integrating relevant skills in the youth of Meghalaya. They have been conducting skill mapping, organising skill studies, and building competencies leading to a pool of skilled human resources that can be absorbed across diverse sectors while generating self-employment.
Speaking at the launch of the programme, the CEO, MSSDS, said, “Providing students with cutting-edge skills is essential for sustainable growth and development of our region. Our vision of ‘Skill India’ and ‘Skill Meghalaya’ can be achieved by involving our youth in the mainstream and providing our learners with opportunities to grow and excel in their careers. MSAPSSDS is also committed to equipping youth with the knowledge and the skills they need to succeed in the digital age on the national skill index. We welcome initiatives like this that lead to the transformation of lives in the region.”

The programme in ERP training will be for students in the final year of their undergraduate management programme and technical disciplines.
