Shillong, April 24: The KHADC, JHADC and GHADC functionaries in a joint meeting held on Monday opposed the inclusion of unrepresented tribes and village councils in the proposed amendment to the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, KHADC Chief Executive Member Titosstarwell Chyne said the KHADC had already passed the Village Development Council Bill which will help the other two councils to pass simar bills to prevent the Centre from imposing village councils in the state.
Swamitva Scheme
The three councils also opposed the implementation of the Swamitva Scheme by the Centre by saying that the state has its own land tenure system.
Royalty
Thr councils wanted the state government to provide the actual entitlement of their respective shares from royalty on minor and major minerals and from the motor vehicle taxes.
The joint meeting discussed the financial matters of the three ADCs.
“We urge the state government that we should at least get the actual calculation regarding this matter,” Chyne said.
The councils also discussed about the delay in the release of the 15th Finance Commission Award by the Centre.
