Shillong, Aug 7:Three persons who were occupants of a truck full of buffaloes were killed while two others escaped unhurt on Sunday night in Pynursla ( in picture).
In a statement issued on Monday, the East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtynger said on August 6 midnight, information was received that one LP truck (ML05 G 9528) driven by Yomiki Kharshandi (20) loaded with 12 buffaloes, proceeding from Pynursla towards Laitlyngkot broke down at Langkyrdem and was repaired. On reaching a turning at Khoh-yiar near Mawkhap junction, NH -40, the gear got jammed as a result of which the vehicle slipped back and fell into a gorge. The police reached the spot and it was learnt that one occupant of the vehicle Bansiew Khongklian, a resident of Phlangshlain managed to climb up while the driver was found alive.
Three others, Kyndaiborlang Kurbah and Welbokstar Sohlang, residents of Kseh Mawnai and Banpeitlang Marbaniang from Nongshken Managing were found dead on the spot.
Police registered an unnatural death case at Pynursla police station.
