TMC to set up organisational framework in state within months
Shillong,Nov 30: Former Congress leader Mukul Sangma said TMC will set up its organisational framework across Meghalaya within a few months.
He and Charles Pyngrope along with MLAs addressed a press conference in Kolkata on Tuesday.
Mukul said people across the country want a political force to counter the BJP.
More and more people will join the movement under the leadership of AITC chairperson Mamata Banerjee, he said.
“The decision taken by us is not a matter of months, but years and also after thoroughly assessing the ground reality”, he said.
Sangma said Didi’s leadership style has made them believe that political dynamics will shift in the coming days.
He said the MLAs decided to join AITC as they are anxious like others and wanted an alternative
“The decision was based on the palpable feeling of thousands of Congress workers across the state of Meghalaya, the North East and in the country as well. They are anxious and wanted an alternative. Our decision to join AITC was based on that”, Sangma said
He said their decision will be a trendsetter across the Nor East and the country as the pattern will follow in other states.
“We are only responding to the collective desire of the people and for the interest of the nation”, he added.
Pyngrope, president, AITC Meghalaya said it was by a resolution that the MLAs decided to join TMC.
He thanked the chairperson Mamata for accepting them in the party
“By joining AITC, we hope that we will be able to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the people”, he said.
