Toddler dies of Covid; day’s count at 409
Shillong, May 10: The day’s count of Covid-19 cases in the state remained above the 400-mark on Monday and the number of deaths was five, including a three-year-old child.
Of the 409 new cases recorded, 202 were reported from East Khasi Hills, which had the highest count followed by Ri Bhoi at 126. West Garo Hills recorded 25 positive cases.
Irene Makri (3) from Umdihar in Ri Bhoi was brought dead at Nongpoh Civil Hospital on Sunday morning. Among the deceased persons was a 24-year-old woman, Preety Chando, who was from Ichamati in East Khasi Hills. She was in home isolation and passed away on Sunday.
A 49-year-old man, Khim Prasad Joshi, of Kench’s Trace in the city died at Woodland Hospital on Sunday evening. Bheem Bahadur Sunar (90), also from East Khasi Hills (7th Mile) died at Civil Hospital in Shillong on Sunday.
Flovina Dkhar (77), who was from Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills, died at Bethany Hospital in the city on Sunday.
The number of recoveries on Monday was 241.
