Trauma centre in Ri Bhoi yet to be functional

Shillong,March 11: A trauma centre in Nongpoh at the Nongpoh civil hospital is yet to be made functional.
Nongpoh legislator Mayralborn Syiem (Cong) has asked the state government to operationalise the centre within this year.
The National Highway-40 had witnessed many accident cases.
In his reply, Cabinet Minister Lahkmen Rymbui assured that the government will try to make the trauma centre operational.
The trauma centre has been taken up under the scheme “capacity building for development of trauma care facility in national highways under centrally sponsored scheme (CSS).
The progress of the work is 75% and the building is utilised as COVID ward and district COVID laboratory.
The project cost is Rs 3.6 crore out of which Rs 2.40 crore is for equipment, Rs 2 lakh for communication and Rs 60,000 for others.
Rymbui said due to some constraints as the building is being used as COVID centre, there will be delay in completion of the building.
